Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed Donuts

Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk lukewarm
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter melted

Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup strawberry jam

Topping

  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 tbsp milk for glaze

Instructions
 

Make the Dough

  • Warm the milk to lukewarm, stir in yeast and a pinch of sugar, let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a bowl, whisk flour and salt. Add yeast mixture, remaining sugar, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.

Fry the Donuts

  • Punch down dough, roll out to 1/2 inch thick, cut out donuts, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil to 350°F, fry donuts 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown, then cool on a wire rack.

Prepare Filling

  • Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and strawberry jam until smooth.

Fill and Top

  • Once cooled, make a hole in each donut, pipe in filling using a piping bag.
  • Mix powdered sugar and milk for glaze, drizzle over donuts.

Notes

  • 1- Let donuts cool completely before filling to prevent melting.
  • 2- Use a piping bag for cleaner filling.
  • 3- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
