Ingredients
  

Cake Batter

  • 1 cup butter, softened room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp green food coloring

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 cup butter, softened room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or cream adjust for consistency

Instructions
 

Prepare the Cake Batter

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two cake pans or line with parchment paper.
  • Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  • Stir in vinegar and green food coloring until fully combined.
  • Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cooling and Frosting

  • Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the frosting, beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar.
  • Mix in vanilla extract and milk or cream until desired consistency is reached.
  • Level cake layers, apply a crumb coat, chill for 30 minutes, then frost completely.

Notes

  • 1- Use cold ingredients for flakier biscuits.
  • 2- Taste the apple filling and adjust spices as needed.
  • 3- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
