Essential Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional Additions

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest optional

Instructions

Preparing Your Kitchen

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

Mixing the Dough

  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla extract if using.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • If dough is too sticky, wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Shaping and Baking

  • Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
  • Place cookies on prepared baking sheets, 1 inch apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • 1- Use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • 2- Chill dough if it’s too sticky to handle.
  • 3- Store in an airtight container to keep fresh.
