Ingredients
  

  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp allspice
  • 1 cup applesauce preferably unsweetened
  • 0.5 cup raisins optional
  • 0.5 cup walnuts optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Stir in the applesauce until evenly distributed.
  • If using, fold in raisins and walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • 1- Use cold ingredients for flakier biscuits.
  • 2- Taste the apple filling and adjust spices as needed.
  • 3- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
