Essential Bread Choices

  • 8 slices Brioche or white bread slightly stale, crusts removed

Sweet Filling Components

  • 2 tablespoons Butter softened
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

Egg Mixture

  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Creamy Glaze Ingredients

  • 2 oz Cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk adjust for desired consistency
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparing the Bread

  • Flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice.

Creating the Filling

  • Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over the buttered side of each bread slice. Roll up each slice tightly, seam-side down.

Cooking the Roll Ups

  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium heat. Whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a shallow dish. Dip each roll-up in the egg mixture, coating all sides. Cook seam-side down in the skillet until golden brown on all sides, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and place on a wire rack.

Preparing the Glaze

  • Whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over warm roll-ups before serving.

Notes

  • Use slightly stale bread for better texture.
  • Cook on medium heat to avoid burning.
  • Swap in whole-grain bread for a healthier option.
  • Add chocolate spread or fruit for variety.
