Ingredients

Marinade

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine or cooking wine
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Stir Fry

  • 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 yellow onions sliced into wedges
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil for cooking

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil for finishing
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water

Instructions

Marinate the Beef

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain.
  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, cornstarch, Shaoxing wine, and sesame oil to make the marinade.
  • Toss the beef in the marinade and let it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Stir Fry

  • Heat a wok or skillet over high heat until almost smoking, then add vegetable oil.
  • Add the beef in a single layer and cook until browned but still slightly pink, then remove and set aside.
  • Add onions to the wok and stir fry until softened and slightly caramelized.
  • Push onions to the side, add the sauce ingredients (soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch slurry), and let it thicken.
  • Return the beef to the wok, toss everything together, drizzle with sesame oil, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • 1- Use cold ingredients for flakier biscuits.
  • 2- Taste the apple filling and adjust spices as needed.
  • 3- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
